Paul Brown is CEO and director of organizational development for Kern, DeWenter, Viere, a financial services and business consulting firm with offices in St. Cloud and Minneapolis, Minn. With nearly 5,000 clients, KDV provides services for clients in privately held companies, nonprofit, municipal governments and schools. In his position, Mr. Brown is responsible for the operations of the company's $2.1 million technology, strategic consulting and organization development services.

Brown brings more than 15 years of experience in management and top leadership experience in the manufacturing, service and retail industries. Prior to his current position, he was a senior consultant and vice president of operations with the Richard Byrd Company, a Minneapolis-based management consulting firm that serves both national and international clients.

During his tenure at the Richard Byrd Company, Mr. Brown successfully provided a wide range of organization development consulting services to a number of key clients including 3M, Cargill, Inc., Seagate Technology, Inc., University of Minnesota and the City of Minneapolis. His services included team building, leadership development, strategic planning, merger and acquisition culture integration, and innovation solutions.

Prior to that, he was general manager with Golden Valley Products, Inc., where he successfully managed the full operations of the company's manufacturing facility, increasing productivity by more than 50 percent, and increasing profitability by more than 287 percent during his first year with the company.

Mr. Brown currently is working on his doctorate in organization development and learning from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn., where he also received his master's of business administration with a concentration in finance in 1992. He holds a bachelor's degree in organizational behavior and communication from Concordia College, St. Paul.

Mr. Brown is a regularly published columnist for the Minnesota OD Network, and his articles also have appeared in the OD Practitioner, Journal of the Organization Development Network. He is a member of the American Management Association (AMA), the National Organization Development Network, and the American Society of Training & Development (ASTD). He also is treasurer and board member of the Minneapolis Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and is a member of the leadership advisory board for Hamline University, St. Paul.
